on some of the hottest break-ups in Tinseltown…

Salman’s volatile love life
Star-crossed lovers, parental
opposition and controversies characterised the Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan love
story. The couple fell in love with each other on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke
Sanam. But Salman’s colourful past, religion and ‘spirited’ ways didn’t go down
too well with Aishwarya’s parents who urged her to break the relationship. One
fine day, without warning, Ash accused Salman of battering her and called off
the affair. Salman was shell-shocked!

Akshay’s long list
Before marriage to Twinkle Khanna,
Akshay Kumar was quite the Casanova and dated most of his on-screen co-stars –
Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty were shattered when they found him two-timing
them. But Akshay’s most controversial link-up was his post-marriage fling with
Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka’s secretary turned nasty and informed the media about
the affair. Akshay had to stop communicating with Priyanka overnight! Priyanka
was in tears for months.

Deepika and her men
Deepika Padukone’s list of men almost
outnumbers the films she has done to date. When she arrived in Mumbai, Deepika
dated and stayed with model Nihar Pandya. But post Om Shanti Om, she
unceremoniously dumped him for cricketer Yuvraj Singh. But, when she met Ranbir
Kapoor while filming Bachna Ae Haseeno, she dumped Yuvraj overnight. She also
has an infamous Upen Patel fling to her credit.

When Ness Wadia could not take Preity
Zinta’s infidelity any more, he decided to let her go. Her latest dalliance with
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the final straw that split the relationship. Ness is
still in shock, but mum Maureen Wadia is happy about her son’s break-up with
Preity.

Of Bollywood royalty
Abhishek Bachchan was a struggling
actor when he fell in love with Karisma Kapoor who was already an established
star then. They got engaged, but their engagement was called off because the
Bachchan family couldn’t put up with Babita’s (Karisma’s mum) tantrums.  A few
months later, Karisma (on the rebound?) married friend and businessman Sanjay
Kapur.

Freida’s Past Blast
Freida Pinto’s innocent
girl-next-door image went for a toss when her former boyfriend Rohan Antao
claimed that she callously dumped him after her career took off. The rumours
went so far as to say that she was ‘married’ to Rohan and warned him not to
admit it as it might harm her career. Today, Freida’s moved on to the younger
and more successful Dev Patel, her Slumdog Millionaire co-star and left a
baffled Rohan behind.

Saif’s Itaian sojourn
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh with
their two children made for a happy picture, so when Saif left Amrita for
Italian Rozza Catalano it was a shock. While Saif refused to pay Amrita and his
children any alimony or support, he spared no expense in splurging money on
Rozza. Amrita has never forgiven him.

No fairy-tale ending
Kareena Kapoor
and Shahid Kapur were the youngest couple in the industry who dated for four
years and braved many a storm together – remember the MMS controversy? No wonder
when they broke up Shahid was shattered. It was Rozza Catalano (Saif Ali Khan’s
ex) who informed Shahid of his girlfriend’s infidelity with Saif!

Shocking ending
Mahima Chowdhury, who gave up her entire
career for Leander Paes and nursed him throughout his neurocysticercosis, was in
total shock when she discovered that he was having an affair with her best
friend Rhea Pillai right under her nose (she discovered messages on his cell!).
It took her ages to recover.
