It’s just a matter of time before Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor tie the knot. Saif’s family has welcome Kareena into the household. Saif brought his ladylove to his ancestral home and introduced her to the Nawab family. And everyone wKareena Kapooras pleased with her.
In fact, Saif’s parents Sharmila and Mansoor are very fond of Kareena. Sharmila revealed that Saif often visits his ancestral home with girlfriend whenever he feels like staying away from hectic schedule. She said that the Pataudis, especially Mansoor, are very fond of Saif’s ladylove.
Sharmila was however diplomatic when it came to marriage. She said that there’s no marriage plans. She added that they would start arranging only after the couple say ‘yes’.
After choreographing Kylie Minogue in Blue, Farah Khan is now currently choreographing a song on Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta and Sohail Khan for Salman and Sohail’s home production, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, directed by debutant Prem Soni at Kamalistan Studios. Says a source, “Farah Khan is today known to be India’s top choreographer and Salman and Sohail are sparing no effort to give Prem what he wants for his dream debut. When Prem expressed his wishes about wanting Farah to choreograph a song on Preity Zinta, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan, Sohail immediately called up Farah and requested her to do it. Even Kareena was heard recently complaining to Farah at Sajid Nadiadwala’s party that she hasn’t choreographed a song of hers for a long time.
So both Kareena and Prem’s wishes came true.”What about Salman and SRK not being on talking terms?The source says, “Farah is a professional and though she’s close to Shahrukh she doesn’t interfere in personal equations. She recently choreographed Akshay Kumar and Kylie Minogue for a song sequence for Blue. Farah loved the song concept for Main Aur Mrs Khanna.” Farah Khan says, “Sohail requested me to choreograph the song and I couldn’t refuse.Prem Soni says, “Farah is like family for Salman and Sohail and we got along very well. Farah is the most entertaining choreographer on screen and a great entertainer. The song is about Preity. It’s a groovy contemporary disco number with music composed by Sajid-Wajid. Farah loved the idea when we played the song for her.”
Talking about how they got Farah to choreograph the song Prem says, “I love Farah. Dancing is her forte and wherever she choreographs the entertaining value gets enhanced from the looks to the visuals. Farah was in my head right from day one when the song was conceptualised.When I expressed my dream of working with Farah Sohail made the first call after which I called her. We again bumped into each other at a party and hit it off. I am blessed to have someone like Salman in my life. He’s made things possible for me.” Rajiv Surti has choreographed the other songs in Main Aur Mrs Khanna.
The lukewarm response to her recent Hollywood release Pink Panther-II has had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan(35) conceding her position as the most popular face of Bollywood in the West to the new international craze 24-year-old Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) who according to reliable sources has been signed for two films-one with Woody Allen and the second with Julian Schnabel. Freida, who is said to have earned over two million pounds, overtaking Bollywood beauties like Aishwarya, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is also, according to a world film distributor being wooed to walk the red carpet at Cannes in May 2009. On the Bollywood front, Kareena Kapoor (28) has nudged Aishwarya Rai Bachchan out of the Filmfare Top-10 Power list.
But a producer from Chennai confirms that Ash is still the highest paid Indian actress and has reportedly been paid a fee of Rs six crore for Shankar’s Robot where she is cast opposite Rajnikant. The actress is said to have received a cheque of Rs one crore as signing amount, that is also a first. Usually it is only the leading men who receive such a big sum as a signing amount.Reportedly, Rajnikant himself is said to come with a price tag of Rs 25 crore for the same film. He will also get a share in the profits since Robot will be released in Hindi and Tamil. The Tamil superstar will be on top of the heap even as far as Bollywood heroes’ prices go. Regarding Aishwarya’s price, her manager Hari Singh said, “Aishwarya is definitely one of the highly paid actors in the country, but I would not like to comment on the price she has been paid.
Singh also said that exaggerated prices often made the rounds.Closer home, Kareena Kapoor has reportedly been paid Rs 2.5 crore for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq. Nadiadwala refuses to comment on his heroine’s price but says, “She has been paid what she deserves. The former Miss India is playing the character of a television anchor in Suryah’s film. The film would soon hit the theatres and Sayali is confident about its success.

Bipasha Basu missed the showing of Shiamak Davar’s collection launched by a sportswear company on Thursday night. What’s particularly interesting about this bit of news is that Bipasha is the brand ambassador of said company. A source present at the event says, “Shiamak and Reebok tied up to present his collection of the Bollywood workout program and the fashionable dance collection on Thursday night at a suburban hotel. Bipasha too was invited to the launch as she’s the company’s brand ambassador. But she didn’t turn up even though she was in Mumbai.
The source further says, “Initially, Bipasha had committed to attend but something happened and she didn’t turn up at the last moment leaving the organisers flustered. Fortunately, Shiamak saved the show with hiscrew putting a performance put up by specially challenged children.Apparently, Bipasha was miffed that Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan had also been invited at her event and she wouldn’t get solo coverage which she had wanted to promote her film, Aa Dekhen Zara, that released yesterday. Shiamak had sent her T-Shirts with the sportswear logo and design a day before the event but she still didn’t go.”
Bipasha’s spokesperson says, “This is not true at all. It was more a Shiamak event than a Reebok event. Bipasha would have loved to attend it because she’s the company’s brand ambassador and also because Shiamak is a friend. She was an invitee and it wasn’t imperative that she attend the event. Also the timings clashed with her prior commitment for her movie (Aa Dekhen Zara) promotions and a preview screening on the eve of the film’s release. The timings were clashing for both events and hence she couldn’t attend the same. The brand had invited her on Tuesday for the event on Thursday and they were informed at the same time about the timing stress.”
Farah Khan completed a song picturised on Salman Khan and Preity Zinta for Main Aur Mrs Khanna while the next day she directed a 30-second promotional video on the Kolkata Knight Riders. The video was picturised on Shahrukh Khan, Sourav Ganguly, Murali Kartik and Ajit Agarkar at the BPCL Sports Club in Chembur on Friday.
Says a source, “Last year, Shahrukh had a music video (directed by Ganesh Hegde) where he had roped in Bappi Lahiri to compose the songs. SRK had himself featured in it. Shahrukh had rendered a song while Usha Uthup had sung another with the theme being Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re. But this year, SRK has decided to do away with the music video promos of KKR completely as of now.”
Farah directed the latest 30-second talkie video on the three cricketers of Kolkata Knight Riders, Ganguly, Murali and Agarkar and Shahrukh last Saturday at Chembur. SRK wore KKR’s No 12 jersey while Sourav sported No 1. Ganguly came to Mumbai at 9 am on Saturday and for the hush-hush shoot. The video was shot in a day.”
Farah says, “I directed the video on Shahrukh, Sourav, Murali and Ajit. It was fun shooting with all of them. Sourav, Shahrukh and we discussed our children including tips on how to bring them up. I know Sourav from before as I had directed him in an ad earlier. “
Aamir Khan’s Ghajini girl Asin Thottumkal is all set to become Shahrukh Khan’s girl in the upcoming Yash Raj project. Katrina Kaif was initially being considered for this project but the King Khan made a conscious decision of keeping away professionally from anything that’s related to Salman Khan, so, Katrina’s name was dropped.
“But then there was also a problem having Asin in the film.” sources further reveal. “The Yash Raj project was to go on floors during 2009 but Asin was committed to do a Priyadarshan project co-starring Akshay Kumar. In fact Akshay himself had suggested her name and she had landed in a catch 22 situation as rejecting the Yash Raj project would mean taking on the biggest production house’s ire and refusing Akki’s film would mean hurting him.
Since, Akki herself had suggested her name, Asin was not able to back out of it. But then luck favoured the Southern beauty as recently Akshay announced his inability to shoot the Priyadarshan project in 2009 and allotted dates of March 2010. Now her dates for 2009 end got free and she intimated Yash Raj about it.
Now the buzz doing the rounds of industry circles is, Asin may be replaced from the Priyadarshan project with Katrina Kaif. Now that would make it a full circle if it happens so!”

In fact, I will be happy to even walk past a frame featuring him. No questions asked. Period.” Sonam teamed up with Ranbir Kapoor in her debut vehicle Saawariya and she was seen with Abhishek Bachchan in her second film Dilli 6. She is now looking forward to a movie with superstar Shah Rukh.
“He is another man for whom I will be so very willing to ignore my rule book. I would be more than happy to go ahead and sign a film if Shah Rukh happens to be my hero,” says Sonam, a self-confessed Shah Rukh fan.”There are exceptions that one makes about the size and content of the role when it comes to working with legendary actors; De Niro and Shah Rukh just fit the bill,” she said.However, when it comes to working on films with anyone lesser, Sonam certainly has her do’s and don’ts in place.”I don’t intend to do films where all I am required to do is to dance in four songs and enact a couple of emotional scenes. Though the formal announcement of her next film is yet to take place, reports are that Sonam’s next will be for her dad’s production house. The most recent entrant into politics is someone who’s known for often being politically incorrect – Salman Khan. In Unnao to campaign for Congress candidate Anu Tandon, Salman looked relaxed and fresh in a tee and jeans, his biceps on show. Standing by a French window before hitting the campaign trail, basking in the early morning sun, Salman sported a pony reminiscent of rival Shah Rukh Khan. The relaxed attitude belied his busy schedule – he had to cover five locations and meetings till late at night, but he answered questions with patience and good humour. Is this the first time he’s out campaigning for someone? “Yes,” he says. As an afterthought, he adds, “I’m not here to canvass or campaign.
But he’s associated himself with a political party. “I’m here to associate with Anu. And to connect with the people,” he replies. But what’s in it for him? “I’m from Indore – I was born there and eventually came to Panvel (in Mumbai), so I know what happens there, how the people there are. But to leave all that, a cushy life, the whole social scene in Mumbai, and work with the masses in villages, needs guts. I’ve known Anu for a very long time and I know the amount of work she’s done for the people, so I wanted to add my bit to it,” he says. “A lot of people say they’ll do this, they’ll do that, but how many eventually get down to doing it? I want to go back to the place where I came from and make sure that the people come out from such small places, the way I have.
What extra do I have? The same education, the same lifestyle, we’re born in the same place. But it’s all about opportunities. I want people to have that. That’s what there is in this for me.
He’s clearly not finished. “Bahut log hote hain jo aag lagate hain. Hum (Anu and Salman) aag bujhane ka kaam kar rahe hain, by interacting with the people and telling them that we’re one of their own. We’re like them. We’re not special.But why the Congress? “Because I believe in the leadership. I believe that Rahul Gandhi will go a long way. He has the ability to lead the country.” And does he have an opinion on the other Gandhi – Varun’s – statements? “I’d just like to say that my father is a Muslim and my mother is a Hindu,” he says.
He says he marvels at Anu for having left her home, husband and two children in Mumbai to work for the people. “I salute such women. Any man would have thrown a fit if his wife were to do this. I know, my father has two wives. I mean, for my father, it would have been easy – do biwiyan hain, ek bahar chali bhi gayi toh doosri toh hai – but for Anu’s husband to have supported her in her endeavours is praiseworthy.”
Talk about turf wars. At the Mai Mumbai show, Preity Zinta cheered for many friends from Bollywood — from Arjun Rampal to Farhan Akhtar. But when Deepika Padukone walked the ramp, Preity just didn’t seem to be enthused. Now, was there a twinge of jealousy?
Earlier, Manish Malhotra’s front row on Friday saw a Bollywood full-course meal with Deepika, Asin, Anushka Sharma, Riteish Deshmukh and even yesteryear star Sridevi. But what we saw was Deepika being ignored by both Asin and Anushka — with the newbie having nowhere to look except sheepishly concentrate on the show.
While rivalries are part and parcel of Tinseltown, what was interesting was that Asin was also chatting up Sophie Chaudry who was sitting to this South Indian actress’s right. Deshmukh was sitting between Anushka and Asin and all three bonded well as they could be seen giggling and chatting happily. Only poor Deepika was left out. She was only seen conversing with Sridevi, who was sitting to her left.
Upset after they were allegedly ignored by SP’s Lok Sabha candidate Sanjay Dutt, students of Lucknow University on Sunday pelted stones at his convoy in the varsity premises damaging some vehicles. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when Dutt was coming out from the bungalow of a professor, sources said.The students wanted to have a glimpse of the actor. For the purpose, they gathered outside the bungalow and started raising slogans “Sanju Baba bahar aao” (Sajay please come out), they said.
However, Dutt along with SP leader Virendra Bhatia continued to hold discussions with the professor and did not come out.Angry over it, when Dutt came out of the bungalow and was trying to leave the place in a haste, students threw stones on the vehicles damaging some of them.Security personnel were also stated to be injured in the incident.When asked about the incident, Bhatia tried to underplay it saying that some students pelted stones from the backside as they could not get autographs.
“Nothing major happened. Some students pelted four-five stones,” Bhatia said denying that anyone was injured.However, he accepted that there were two-three students who were also raising slogans and added that they might belong to some political party. “We just wanted to see Dutt. He is contesting elections from Lucknow and he should meet us,” Harish, a university student, said.

“The weather today has been so hot. Everyone is complaining about the heat, ” says Deepika.
While most would think shooting in Phuket is a piece of cake, but it’s a far cry from that especially when the creative head, Nupur Puri, wanted nothing less than a perfect picture.
And did Deepika deliver, sure she did.
Being the thorough professional, the gal overcame her fears with aplomb.
“There was a shot where I was asked to get into water waist deep. For a second I thought what if a crab or a snake comes near my foot. I was so scared because I just encountered a snake yesterday. But then I said, if it’s for the shot and the shot has to look good then I have to forget all these things.”

While Deepika was braving the heat, the water current and her fear of creepy crawlies, photographer Atul Kasbekar and his assistants were pulling all strings to get the perfect light, the tone and the shot.
“We are primarily shooting backlit. So the entire feel of the feature and the cover is against strong, strong back light. So our entire look and feel is essentially based on the lighting treatment we are working on. So it will be distinctive for this feature,” says Kasbekar.
While the model and the photographer both knew their job well, what also added to the final look and feel of the shoot was camaraderie between them.
Deepika was comfortable with Atul and worked like a dream. Atul couldn’t stop raving about Deepika’s complexion, her Indian looks and her presence in front of the camera.
All in all a welcome change from the regular studio set up that also gave everyone on the shoot a chance to bond.
Even though photographer Atul Kasbekar referred to Deepika Padukone as an “expensive prop” for the shoot, most people would think that the expensive prop sure made for a priceless cover page.
Former Miss World and reigning Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra received this year’s Nielsen Box Office Award at Hong Kong. The award, which was launched in the year 2007, was presented for the outstanding performance in the world of Asian cinema. A panel of jurors composed of professionals whose experiences and expertise in cinema are internationally recognized select from among eligible films produced in the region in that year. Featuring eight heroes and a heroine, the film completed ninety percent of the talkie and all the songs except the current song. The audio will hit the stands soon, while the movie will be ready for release by the end of April.

Nandu (Bobby Deol) an orphan turned assassin somehow gets wrongly accused of a politician's murder and is on the run. On his escapade on a train he meets Shekhar (Pradeep), who is homebound after fourteen years, they get chatting and Nandu finds all about his joint family and the wedding of Shekhar's cousin that he is going to attend.
However the police catch up with Nandu on the train and shoot at him but Shekhar shields Nandu and dies on the spot. Nandu goes to Shekhar's family home in his village to return his grandfathers watch and also to break the news of his grandson's death to him. However it turns out that Shekhar's family mistakes Nandu for Shekhar and makes him a part of the celebration at home.
Preet (Shriya Saran), who is the daughter of Shekhar's grandfather's friend is in awe of Nandu and falls in love with him. CBI Inspector Rane (Nana Patekar), is given the responsibility of tracking down the killer and is after Nandu.
Will Nandu be able to come out of the crisis a winner? Will the family come to know about his truth? What would be the fate of Nandu and Preet's love story? Who was the real killer?
